The Script
04:04
|
|||
Boy, we’re gonna be the talk of the town
Burn this city straight to the ground
Right down in flames, yeah
Flip the script, read it right in your ear
It’s exactly what you wanted to hear and I just might mean it, baby
Talk that talk, when you talk like that
Baby when you talk like that the line gets a little blurry
Talk that talk then you don’t talk back
Baby when you do me like that don’t you know that it hurts me?
The little things that you do
I try not to make it all about you
Make me feel like I’m running a race
Can't keep up at your pace
Like you’re gonna desert me
Make me feel like my heart’s on fire
Are people gonna call me a liar when my heart’s beating out of my body?
Talk that talk, when you talk like that
When you see through me like that, babe I get a little worried
Walk that walk, would you run right back?
Maybe take it too far again now the script’s getting torn up
The little things that you do
I don’t want to make it all about you

Ours

You really could choose
You really should choose
To take the high road
I know it’s on your mind and you know it’s on mine
But do you have the patience, the restraint, or a way to gain and maintain the power?
Because every minute, every hour of your mind they’re starting to devour
You really shine through
I mean you really do have my attention
And while we’re on the subject there’s some things I should probably mention
But I don’t have a way to explain it, no I can’t maintain it and you know why
Why every time I walk across that stage in my mind I start to cry, to cry
Not me
You’ll never get to me
I won’t give you the power
Said we, said we can never be
More alive than we are underneath these lights
And they can’t take that away, oh no because it's ours
That time and place right there up on that stage
That is ours, it is OURS

Live It Up
04:09
|

Said you gotta live
Gotta give a little back first girl, but then you gotta live your best life
It’s all that matters in this whole world
If you just do it your own way and you don’t care what the haters say
Well you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank
It just takes time
Said you gotta, you gotta just do you
Baby, live your truth
It’s the only thing we can do
Live it up, live it up, live it up
Live it up, live it up, live it up
Said you gotta live
You gotta live until it really hurts
or even worse - when you’re in pain, when you’re sad and under the rain
If you just do it your own way knowing that you’re gonna make mistakes
Eventually you’ll be okay, oh it just takes time
Said you gotta, you gotta just do you
Baby, live your truth
Is it the only thing we can do?
Live it up, live it up, live it up?
Live it up, live it up, live it up?

The Arrogance of Power
03:58
|
|||
Why would you step down the tower when you’re the one holding all the power?
When you’re the one with the guns and the money by the tons in control of the whole empire?
De-escalate from your position of authority maybe talk to me like a human being
and then you would see exactly what is happening
I mean I can see just what you’re doing
The arrogance of power is funny
The people with the money control all the news that you see on your iPhones and your smart phones and your cell phones and your TVs
Impending shit is happening and we’re talking ‘bout Kardashians
But you don’t really want to stand up
You don’t really want to get in the fray
Just go live your life no pain no strife ‘cause Michael and Kelly told you it was jelly
Gonna get you in the final hour, talkin’ bout the arrogance of power
Hope that you all know just what I’m sayin’ oh if you do please nod your head
Why would you step down the tower?
You’re the one holding all the power.
You’re the one with the guns and the money by the tons in control of the whole empire.
De-escalate from your position of authority.
Talk to me like a human being.
You should see exactly what is happening.
We all can see just what you’re doing
The arrogance of power is money
If you follow all the money and connect the dots then you’ll see what the anchorman won’t tell you on the nightly news on TV
The media is babblin’ yeah it’s bafflin’ and it’s saddening
But you don’t really want to stand up anyway.
You don’t really wanna get in the fray
Go have ten kids, take selfies, get rich.
Just don’t cry to me when you’re down on your knees.
Gonna get you in the final hour, talkin’ bout the arrogance of power
Know that you all know just what I’m sayin’ oh if you do better nod your head

The Resistance
04:37
|

I know they want me to act like a fool
But I won’t just because they want me to
You want me to give up but I refuse
‘Cause I won’t go down without a fight or two
No I won’t
I won’t
Try to break me down til I cry
But I won’t
No I won’t
Don’t you listen or they’ll tell you all their lies
I know they’re bettin’ on us all to lose
So we won’t just because they want us to
You want me to give up, but I refuse!
No I won’t stop fightin’ til the fight is through
No I won’t
I won’t
Try to break me down til I cry til I die
But I won’t
No I won’t
Don’t you listen or they’ll tell you all their lies
They're gonna fill your head with lies

The Wizard

“No ruling class rules nakedly
They take strenuous efforts to justify their rule...
How do we manipulate?
How do we control?
How do we contain what they have in their minds?
I’m talking in terms of power:
Where the power is?
Who’s shaping the condition of our lives?
Who determines the quality of the air we breathe?
the food we eat?
the water we drink?
the kind of jobs we can have?
The history of capitalism has been both the history
of great prosperity and great poverty.
We often say: “How unfortunate -
so much wealth is here with so much poverty here.
As if it were just an unfortunate juxtaposition
When in fact there’s a dynamic interaction between those two things:
This poverty exists because of this wealth.
This wealth exists because of this poverty.
The wealth of the few rests on the poverty of the many.
There could be no Lords and Ladies without serfs
who labor from dawn to dusk
to keep the Lords and Ladies in the style they’re accustomed to.
The richest, most powerful men…
Millions killed or maimed over the decades…
The replacement of local organic food supplies with pesticide ridden factory farms…
Several generations of lung cancer….
An avalanche of disposable products that keep creating solutions to things that aren’t problems...
A disposable environment: Turn it all to wasteland and toss it aside then move somewhere else and do the same.
Then move somewhere else and do the same
We need a war
It would stimulate the economy and get it going
There’s billions to be made there!
To be carved out and be taken
There’s been billions for 400 years!
How naively enthusiastic they are
They are just there at the edge
Knowing the world is opening up…
...
What am I smoking? "

The Oil
02:38
|
|||
Can you hear our voices behind your mountain of green?
You are causing the destruction of everyone and everything.
Without consequence you take all that you need and we lay more at your feet.
For when we can’t eat what is grown in the soil, we will all drown in the oil.
Have you no contrition? Your ambition is obscene.
We will seize the means of production and for you? The guillotine.
Unless you see the forest for the trees. Won’t you please?
For when we can’t eat what is grown in the soil, we will all drown in the oil

Hey, space bear
Slow stepper
Hey, water bear
I think it’s fair to say that you’re gonna outlive us all
From the mountaintops, to the deep sea mud
Hey tardigrade, in your galactic escalade
Swimming in the volcanos, the rainforest, yeah the Amazon
Hey tardigrade, I think I’d rather be where you are
Hey space bear
Moss piglet
I know I’m bigger than you
But you might say that you’re better suited for this world
From a pile of ash, to the dust of space
Oh, tardigrade, you little toxic renegade,
Yes you are
Hey, space bear
Slow stepper
Hey water bear
I think it’s fair to say that you’re gonna outlive us all
Hey space bear,
Moss piglet
I know I’m bigger than you
But you might say that you’re better suited for this world
Hmm...

Horizon's High
05:59
|
|||
Took me sometime to learn just how to speak my truth
Not something my school taught me in my youth
Took me some time to recognize the wrong from right the highs and lows , So here it goes:
See we all need to share the power to believe in our self worth and in our self efficacy
For lack of these we’ll labor ineffectively, repeat mistakes from history
When you feel it creepin up your spine
Better stop it while you still have time
Before it starts to cloud your mind
And freeze you right up from inside
It’ll be a little longer til you gain control
But keep your eyes upon the goal
Horizon’s high, so far to go
Horizon’s high, so far to go
I had to learn this truth all on my own you see
Free my mind’s view so fear won’t get the best of me
I blame it for the failures of society (Fear! Ignorance and Greed!)
Yeah
Took me sometime to recognize the fear inside me :
swords on fire burning bright
The moral of the story is for you to see that absent fear we all have the ability to come together all at once in unity and fight for our humanity
When you feel it creepin up your spine
Better stop it while you still have time
Before it starts to cloud your mind
And freeze you right up from inside
It’ll be a little longer til you gain control
But keep your eyes upon the goal
Horizon’s high, so far to go
Horizon’s high, so far to go
When you feel it creepin up your spine
Better stop it while you still have time
Before it starts to cloud your mind
And seize you right up from inside
It’ll be a little longer til you gain control
But keep your eyes upon the goal
Horizon’s high, so far to go
Horizon’s high, so far to go
